CAERSWS boss Mark Griffiths was presented with the JD Cymru North manager of the season award last weekend.

Griffiths was among the officials and players recognised at the end of season awards in Bala.

The Caersws manager guided the Bluebirds to Ardal North League Cup triumph and second place in the Ardal North East League, losing to Porthmadog in the promotion play-off at Barmouth last month.

The award is recognition for the hard-working Bluebirds manager who has rebuilt at the Recreation Ground and will go into the forthcoming campaign among the favourites to secure promotion back to the second tier after several years in the third.

Meanwhile Llanfair United’s Josh Astley was named Lock Stock Ardal North East player of the season with the most player of the match nominations as well as netting 44 league goals.

The club representatives for next season were also confirmed with the well-respected and long-serving Wyn Lewis of Bow Street the only nomination for the North East league and Stuart Lawrence of newly-promoted Hawarden Rangers coming out on top of four nominations in the North West vote

The draw for the first round of the Ardal North East League Cup also took place before the awards ceremony.

Meanwhile the draw for the first round of the Nathaniel MG Cup was held on Tuesday night.

Penrhyncoch entertain Buckley Town while wild card entries Caersws host Prestatyn Town in a match which the villagers will fancy their chances of springing an upset.

Guilsfield have been handed a bye to the second round along with Colwyn Bay.

Meanwhile Chris Davies’ Llanidloes Town were drawn into the southern section and face a trip to Pontardawe Town.
