The Community College in Bishop's Castle has outlined its plans to celebrate and commemorate the centenary of the school's opening.

To mark the 100 years of the town's secondary school activities are planned during the lead-up to September's big celebrations including burying a time capsule.

The Headteacher and Governing Body welcome all past and present staff and students to the Gathering Celebration which is expected to be held on Saturday, July 2.

From 1pm to 5pm, there will be live music, food and a bar to help celebrate the Centenary Gathering.

The college will be displaying photographs and memorabilia alongside other displays and activities including games and stalls.

Event organisers are asking people to bring along photos, slides, certificates and memorabilia which can help the college identify past colleagues and fellow students.

There will also be opportunities for former staff and pupils to be interviewed by current students about the college in years gone by.

On the day there will be a chance to take part in creating a tile wall to commemorate 100 years by decorating or signing and dating a tile.

Organisers are also encouraging people to bring items for a time capsule which will be buried in September.

September 1922 saw the opening of the County High School in Bishop’s Castle, which changed its name to The Community College Bishop’s Castle in 1992.

In addition the college will be showcasing, judging and awarding current students for their centenary photograph and cake competition entries.
