A new defibrillator will soon be installed at the front of Hafren Furnishers in Llanidloes.

Money raised by Llanidloes Rotary Club - £2,371 - was used to buy the life-saving device which will be installed at the front of the building in Llangurig Road.

The new defibrillator is the second device which is supplied and maintained by Llanidloes Rotary Club and Woosnam and Davies. The other defibrillator is located at the Old Post Office Building, opposite Spar in the town centre.

More than £8,320 has been donated to local charities and good causes by the Llanidloes Rotary Club since 2021. Despite the "difficult times" of coronavirus pandemic restrictions, the Rotary "still prevailed", members were told.

The remainder of the money - £5,950 - has been distributed to local charities who have asked for support from Llanidloes Rotary Club during the year.

At the recent AGM, activities from the last 12 months were discussed and Rotarians were told that since August 2021 when it was the first face-to-face meeting since coronavirus restrictions began, the Club had undertaken 18 activities to support the wider community of Llanidloes including providing help with car parking at 'The Credu Big Weekend' for carers at Broneirion Hall, Llandinam.

At the next meeting on Wednesday, June 22, Llanidloes Rotary Club will welcome guest speaker Jean Carter who will be talking about inflatable lifting devices which are becoming as important as defibrillators in saving lives in the community.
