A beauty business plans to relocate from Llanidloes town centre into a home-based salon in a nearby village.

Beau Beauty owner Sarah Clark Jones has submitted plans for approval to convert part of a house into a beauty salon.

Earlier this year, Mrs Clark Jones told customers of her award nominated business that she planned to relocate from China Street in Llanidloes, to a home-based salon in Llangurig.

"The last two years have been incredibly difficult, and with costs yet again increasing considerably in all aspects of the business, I have reached the point that I financially, physically and mentally cannot maintain Beau Beauty at the level I wish to keep it without raising our prices yet again," she said.

"However at a time when everyone is going to start feeling 'the pinch' this is something I just do not want to do; so have been left with no choice but to find a way to reduce my own business running costs to prevent passing the extra cost on to you all.

Mrs Clark Jones added: "Beau Beauty as a business is not closing, and neither am I going to finish working; I am however 're-locating' the salon, and am going to move the business to a home-based salon."

The planning application, if approved, would see the rear ground floor at Maes Deri, Green Terrace converted into a beauty business.

The proposed 29 sq metre salon area for beauty and massage treatments would include converting what is currently used as a utility room and storage room into two treatment rooms.

The applicant told council planners that the treatment room would be open for beauty appointments from 8am to 8pm on weekdays and from 8am to 3pm on Saturdays, but “may alter slightly”.

The property’s immediate neighbours have been informed about the proposed plans, according to the applicant.

Comments on the plans, received by Powys County Council on April 25 and validated on May 18, can be made online.
