One of the UK's most exciting young jazz artists will be performing at an unmissable event in Bishop's Castle.

Saxophonist Matt Carmichael will be bringing his quintet to the SpArC Theatre on Saturday, June 11, as part of the Clun Valley Jazz (CVJAZZ) sessions.

Glasgow musician Matt - a BBC Young Jazz Musician 2020 finalist - has been writing and performing his own music since his teens performing at Celtic Connections, Ronnie Scott’s, Latitude Festival, Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival.

Matt will be releasing a new album later this year following on from his critically-acclaimed debut album 'Where Will the River Flow' which was long-listed for the multi-genre Scottish Album of the Year.

Organisers are also giving away a limited number of discounted tickets on a first come basis to help young people attend and experience first-class live jazz events.

"Anyone who attends a CVJAZZ performance and is not completely amazed John will give them their money back!" a spokesperson for the event said.

Town bandleaders, school and music teachers who would like one or all of their students to attend this next session in Bishop's Castle on June 11 must urgently contact John for discounted tickets.

Clun Valley Jazz session will host their next event with performances from the Julian Siegal Quartet on Saturday, August 27, at Bishop's Castle Town Hall.
