POLICE have made an arrest following an incident which left a man with "traumatic injuries" in Welshpool on Sunday (May 22).

The victim was airlifted to hospital following the incident at The Raven Inn shortly before 4.30pm.

Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed a 27-year-old remains in police custody while they investigate an allegation of assault.

A spokesperson said: "Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating an allegation of assault which occurred on Sunday afternoon, May 22, 2022, at the Raven Inn, Raven Square, Welshpool.

"A man was taken to hospital for treatment and later released.

"A 27-year-old man has been arrested and currently remains in police custody."

Police are now asking anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch.

The individual was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.

A spokesperson for Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We were called yesterday, Sunday, May 22 at 4.29pm to Raven Square in Welshpool to reports of a person with traumatic injuries.

"We sent one rapid response vehicle, one emergency ambulance, the emergency medical retrieval and transfer service and the Wales Air Ambulance to the scene.

"One patient was flown to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment."
