WESTMINSTER'S 'big guns' have been to Wales to show unity at the latest Conservative spring conference events in Newtown this weekend.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak attended the party gala event at the Hafren to give a keynote speech to the Welsh Conservatives, despite coming under heavy pressure following his first appearance in the Sunday Times rich list.
The chancellor is also under pressure from within and without his party to introduce a 'Windfall Tax' on oily companies who are recording high profits while UK gas bills continue to rise.
Mr Sunak has not yet ruled out the possibility of the tax, which was defeated as a Labour Party motion last week, but he has been urged by some of his colleagues to resist the move.
One cabinet minister who does not want to see a Windfall Tax is health secretary Sajid Javid, who also joined diners at the event in Newtown.
Mr Sunak was interviewed on stage by former Conservative Party leader William Hague.
The pair were joined at the conference in Powys by Montgomeryshire MP Craig Williams, Senedd member Russell George and chairman of the Welsh Conservatives, Glyn Davies.
Mr Williams, who showed Prime Minister Boris Johnson around on Friday, tweeted: "Looking forward to another cracking day in Newtown. It's fantastic that our area is hosting this big event."
