A FLINTSHIRE-based aintshire animal rescue centre is urging people to check their gardens before strimming amid a rise of hedgehog injuries.

Jackson's Animal Rescue, in Padeswood, near Buckley, has said the "vast majority" of hedgehogs it is taking in at the moment have suffered "really bad" strimmer-related wounds.

This is a slightly upsetting post, yet one that needs to be done.

The hedgehog (pictured below) is called Jaffa, and the path the strimmer has taken down is clearly visible down her back.

The Leader:

Jackson's Animal Rescue said in a Facebook post: "Jaffa’s case is actually one of the less severe strimmer injuries we have seen, as it normally takes faces or backs clean off, even as far as down to the bone

"Please, check any grass before you strim. Long grass is the ideal hiding place for our spikey friends, and by taking fivw minutes out of your day to check for hogs before strimming, you could save a life."
