GWYN Davies has stepped down as Builth mayor after a tireless and fruitful three-and-a-half year stint in the role.
Mayors traditionally hold office for a year but while Councillor Davies was in office the Covid-19 pandemic hit and it was decided he would keep the role until life returned to normal.
He stepped down at Builth Town Council’s recent AGM, with deputy mayor Cllr Alan Waller taking over while Cllr Lauren Pugh will now serve as deputy mayor.
“It’s been an honour and a privilege to serve the Builth community as chair for three-and-a-half years,” Cllr Davies said ahead of last Tuesday’s AGM.
“I would like thank all of the businesses and everyone who has helped me along the way (and there has been far too many to mention), we really would not have achieved what we have without all the everyone’s input and unwavering support.
“I will look back on the projects and events we have done for the town with fond memories. I certainly hope that the family fun day, the Christmas grotto and the Mayor’s Ball will become permanent fixtures.”
