A HELICOPTER scrambled from North Wales to Powys to transport a teenager to hospital after he became unwell while on an expedition.

The incident happened in the Brecon Beacons on Friday, May 13, with the 18-year-old male transported to Singleton Hospital in Swansea.

The Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team posted the incident on their Facebook page on Saturday, adding that they were assisted by neighbouring colleagues from Brecon Mountain Rescue Team.

“We were contacted by Dyfed Powys Police to rescue an 18-year-old male who had become unwell whilst on an expedition,” said the Western Beacons MRT.

“Due to the location and casualty’s condition we immediately requested a helicopter from Maritime and Coastguard Agency who scrambled R187 from St Athan.

“Just in case the helicopter couldn’t reach the casualty’s location we also called our neighbouring team Brecon Mountain Rescue Team. Fortunately, the helicopter was able to reach the casualty and took him to Singleton Hospital in Swansea. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
