THE trial of two London men accused of deceiving an elderly Powys lady and using her bank card to withdraw more than £1,000 in cash will take place later this year.
Daniel Baah, 25, and Job Khoeseb, 24, both appeared at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 12, where they each denied a charge of theft and seven counts of fraud by false representation.
They reiterated not guilty pleas to all charges when they appeared in the dock at Mold Crown Court today (May 13).
They will now return to Mold for a trial – likely to last two to three days – starting on October 10 this year.
Baah, of Durban Road, Stratford, and Khoeseb, of Lawson Close, West Beckton, are accused of deceiving the woman by using her bank card to withdraw £1,000 cash as well as attempting to buy a £250 John Lewis gift card and food worth £5.80 from Greggs in Welshpool, and to spend £12.89 in another shop on Broad Street on October 10, 2021.
The charges allege that a NatWest debit card was stolen, and that £250 was withdrawn from Tesco cash points in Welshpool, and three withdrawals were made from the Royal Bank of Scotland of the same value.
