Tickets are now on sale for one of the first major community events of 2022 in Welshpool.

The World-famous Fron Male Voice Choir will be visiting Welshpool on Saturday, May 14.

The choir will be performing at St Mary’s Church, with the concert organised by Welshpool Town Council.

The concert will be in support of local charities, Pont Hafren and Montgomery Wildlife Trust.

The Fron Choir was formed in 1947 and has since performed worldwide, selling over a million copies of their ‘Voice in the Valley’ album series, with the sixth instalment being released during lockdown.

Also, during lockdown, the choir made an appearance on Michael Ball’s Wonderful Wales that was filmed at the National Trust's property at Erddig near Wrexham.

Many of the choir members come from Oswestry and the surrounding area, and are currently looking for new members.

A spokesperson for the town council said: “This is a great opportunity for Welshpool, our visitors and our wider community to hear one of the most famous of Welsh choirs.

“It is an occasion when we can all come together after the restrictions and impact of the last two years, and at the same time raise funds for local good causes.”

Tickets are available from the town council offices or via the Fron Choir website, and cost £12 for adults and £10 for concessions, plus booking fees. Doors open at 6.15pm and the performance begins at 7pm.
