THE UK tour of ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’ will arrive at the Albert Hall in Llandrindod Wells next week.

Celebrating 20 years since publication next spring, The Smartest Giant in Town is a heart-warming and vibrant tale about friendship and helping those in need, and is coming to the spa town next Tuesday, April 26.

It brings Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s bestselling book to life in a musical, puppet-filled adventure. Julia and Axel are the UK’s leading picture book partnership. Their books, which includes modern classic The Gruffalo, have sold over 75 million copies worldwide.

Julia said: “I wrote The Smartest Giant in Town 20 years ago but the theme of generosity and kindness seems just as relevant today.

“I saw the show last summer and the whole audience, including me, love the puppets and enjoyed the songs.”

The story tells the tale of George, who wishes he wasn’t the scruffiest giant in town. So, when he sees a new shop selling giant-sized clothes, he decides it’s time for a new look.

Now he’s the smartest giant in town, until he bumps into some animals who desperately need his help – and his clothes.

Albert Hall booking secretary and technical manager Ben Williams said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the fantastic musical adaption of The Smartest Giant in Town to the Albert Hall next week.

“We’re delighted to be seeing a wide range of productions visiting our beautiful theatre this year, and The Smartest Giant is going to get our spring/summer season off to a great start. Tickets are limited, so make sure you get in quick.”

Next week’s show is on at 2.30pm and 4.30pm. Tickets are available at https://thealberthall.co.uk/whats-on.
