POLICE are investigating allegations of a sexual assault on a woman outside a pub in Newtown.

The alleged offence occurred outside the Lion Pub on Shortbridge Street in Newtown at around 11.50pm on Saturday, February 12. A man is alleged to have slapped a 47-year-old woman’s bottom outside the pub.

Dyfed Powys Police issued an appeal earlier today saying they would like to identify the person in this image, which was caught by CCTV cameras. They have since revealed that the male has been idenitified and thanked members of the public for their support.

“Dyfed Powys Police is investigating an alleged sexual assault that occurred at approximately 11.50pm on Saturday, February 12,” said the force in a statement.

“A man is alleged to have slapped a 47-year-old woman’s bottom outside the Lion Pub on Shortbridge Street, Newtown.

“Officers have carried out all possible lines of enquiry and are now appealing for help from the public. They would like to identify the person in the CCTV image, who may have information that could help the investigation.”
