A permanent make-up artist from Powys who is making a difference to people's lives is a finalist for two national business awards.

Rhian Morris has been shortlisted for a UK Hair and Beauty Award in the Rising Star and Permanent Make-Up Artist of the Year categories only six months after opening her Montgomery business.

“I’m over the moon with it. I wasn’t expecting it at all. Coming from a rural area, it’s brilliant," she said.

The 27-year-old offers permanent eyeliner, lip and eyebrow make-up including for people, such as cancer patients, who have lost hair through illness.

"With them suffering hair loss, having their eyebrows done is a huge deal and being able to offer that makes a huge difference to their lives. Their reactions at the end of the procedure, some of them cry."

Rhian opened her Princes Street business last year after completing intense training in Sussex with self-made multi-award winning businesswoman Katy Jobbins, who has appeared on hit Channel 5 programme Rich House, Poor House.

“It's been flat out and I’ve been in everyday since September. It’s been nerve wracking but amazing so far. I’m absolutely loving being in the swing of stuff and meeting new people."

Rhian will find out if she is a UK Hair and Beauty Award winner at a virtual event on Saturday, March 26.
