ANOTHER weekend of football is on the horizon.

We are entering the business end of the season now with clubs battling for promotion, relegation and cup glory.

The County Times goes through the weekend schedule to share some top fixtures.

Remember wherever you go, keep on supporting Welsh pyramid football.

Llanrhaeadr v Airbus UK Broughton - JD Cymru North - Saturday, 2pm

MARC Griffiths is under no illusions as to the size of the task facing his side as Llanrhaeadr welcome Airbus UK Broughton to Tanllan on Saturday.

It is second bottom versus top in the JD Cymru North with the villagers in desperate need of points to avoid relegation to the third tier.

Captain Joe Vaughan returns for Llanrhaeadr but manager Griffiths warned it would still be a huge challenge.

He said: "Obviously it will be a big challenge. Games are running out for us to turn things around but I wouldn't put it past us to cause a shock.

"Airbus have had a superb season and fully deserve to be in such a comfortable position at the top of the league but the conditions in Llanrhaeadr will not be ideal for the way they like to play and we have to look to take advantage of that."

Carno v Chirk AAA - Ardal North East League - Saturday, 2pm

CHIRK AAA make the trip to Carno on Saturday with the Colliers now favourites for the title.

A 2-0 win at home to rivals Llanfair United last week means Andy Pryde's side are top of the table and favourites to seal promotion to the second tier.

A club spokesman said: "After three great wins against Penparcau, Cefn Albion and Llanfair, Chirk are full of confidence for their trip to Carno on Saturday.

Meanwhile Pryde has stressed how important it is to continue with the momentum and praised the teams overall performances of late.

Chirk welcome back Lewis Clamp, Tom Williams, Will Evans and Jake Simms after missing last week's win but defender Ryan Williams is doubtful after picking up an injury.

Meanwhile Carno are desperate for points to cement their third tier status.

Manager Gary Jones said: "A tough game ahead. Hopefully work hard and we will not get steamrollered."

Llanfair United v Bow Street - Ardal North East - Saturday, 2.30

LAWRENCE Wilson has urged his Llanfair United players to forget last weekend's defeat at Chirk AAA ahead of the visit of Bow Street.

He said: "After Saturday's game we were very disappointed in the way we played, it wasn’t a usual Llanfair performance and we didn’t really get started.

"We bounced back Tuesday night though winning 3-1 against Welshpool on a tricky pitch which didn’t help either teams style of play, so it’s nice to be a final in my first season at the club."

Wilson is wary of the Street threat with the Ceredigion side winning 2-1 in the reverse fixture.

"We played with 10 men for a long period of time and endured some dubious refereeing decisions so we will be looking to get back on track in the league."

Meanwhile a Street spokesman said the squad was "ready for the tough task that awaits us" with several players missing through work commitments."

RHAYADER Town travel to Caldicot Town on Saturday bidding to boost their survival bid.

Spokesman Dai Davies said: "We go into the game full of confidence and a game we have nothing to lose.

"We will be going for it from the first whistle looking to get some more points on the board."

Defender James Thomson misses out through suspension.

Trefonen v Llanymynech - Llansantffraid Village Cup, Saturday, 2pm

MATT Digwood is relishing the revamped Llansantffraid Village Cup which sees the Pitmen host local rivals Llanymynech on Saturday.

The Trefonen manager said: "The new format of the Llansantffraid Village Cup makes the competition exciting for all the clubs involved, it allows for all the sides to have a chance of progressing from the group stage”.

“We are looking forward to a local derby in a competition where we feel we have a good chance of doing well.

"We are expecting a tough game as Llanymynech are known for their hard work. We would like to continue the performances from the league campaign and Bernie Jones Memorial Cup."

Colwyn Bay v TNS - JD Welsh Cup, semi-final - Sunday, 2.15pm

TNS manager Anthony Limbrick has banned talk of a league and cup double until full-time on Sunday.

The Saints travel to Rhyl to take on JD Cymru North side Colwyn Bay with normal service resumed in the Welsh football pecking order after being crowned JD Cymru Premier champions last week.

"It was great to see so many happy people at the end," said Limbrick. "All credit to Penybont who made it a difficult afternoon and forced us to dig deep and make changes.

"The cup semi is the perfect game for us to get back to playing and the lads know we want to end the season strongly. However nobody is talking about the double. Bay deserve our respect and we must work hard to beat them."

Bay beat Connah's Quay Nomads in the quarter-finals and Limbrick warned the Seagulls would once again provide a test.

"It will be a tough game with a big crowd," said Limbrick. "Of course we know a bit about them and will be prepared while we also know Steve Evans, who was a great servant to TNS and still held in high regard, will be looking to cause a shock."
