A TRIUMPHANT TNS boss Anthony Limbrick says his thoughts have already turned to how he can improve his title-winning squad and go further in Europe.

The Saints secured a 14th Cymru Premier League title with a nervy 3-3 draw with Penybont at Park Hall on Saturday, coming from behind to lead before being pegged back.

A point was all that was needed for TNS to secure the title – one of the earliest in its history – and Limbrick admitted pre-season thoughts and another attempt at progress in the Champions League are already in place.

"We've already started planning for pre-season but the early title win means we do have more time now," said a delighted Limbrick.

"Last year, we only had two weeks for an off-season but this time around we've had a lot more to play with.

"We're going to look at recruitment for the summer, because we want to improve on not just the squad but the starting line-up – I think that's important and key.

"If we want to go one step further in Europe then we need to start those preparations now.

"We want to be respectful of the league – we want to show how we've improved on last season and the season before by finishing strong.

"That's the message to the players and there are Welsh Cup semi-final places to play for.

"I think Colwyn Bay may be our hardest game on a difficult pitch, as we're not quite sure what quality it will be in against a side that will desperately want to beat us.

"They've caused a shock in the last two rounds but we've got a lot of respect and will be doing our research on them like any other game.

"But after the celebrations for winning the league, of course."

Saints had to fight from 2-0 down at the break to take a late second-half lead but Limbrick admitted he was not surprised with what the visitors offered.

"Penybont are a very good team and they came to play," he said.

"We drew 1-1 at their place and won 3-2 here in an open game with a tight scoreline that could have gone either way.

"They could have easily won it today too but it's maybe not about tactics and formations but the will of the players today to get the job done.

"We wanted to win the game, there's not doubt about that, which is why we went 3-2 up because we kept on going for that third goal.

"And we're very disappointed with that third goal at the end as we want to win in a certain way and we'll be looking to do that for the rest of the season."
