INCREASED levels of traffic, the impact on wildlife and privacy are among the major concerns residents in Llandrindod Wells have raised over a proposed new planning development.

We reported last month how Asbri Planning Ltd had been commissioned by Powys firm PAR Homes to submit a pre-application consultation to Powys County Council for the development of approximately 70 properties in two estates in the Lakeside Avenue area of the town.

The proposed development is in the town’s South ward, with county councillor Pete Roberts posting a link to the planning notice by Asbri on his Facebook page, stating that there was an opportunity for local residents to offer their opinions on the proposed development and suggestions on how the plans could be improved.

He has since revealed he has contacted the developers, raising the concerns of his constituents.

“Having spent time speaking to the majority of residents on Lakeside Avenue and those directly affected on Grosvenor Road I have now written to ASBRI with a number of questions which I hope they will respond to before the end of the consultation period,” said Councillor Roberts.

“Across the board, the concerns are broadly shared were: people worried about the increased levels of traffic the estates will generate; for those on the hill there is concern that the sewage network has insufficient capacity to cope; across the area, there are concerns about the impact on wildlife and for a number of specific households there are concerns about the privacy impacts of specific plots on the estates.

“I have also raised the desire for a public meeting to discuss the plans either formally or informally as an exhibition. I am still awaiting a response.”
