Year 11 students of Ysgol Llanfyllin were overjoyed after receiving some much anticipated good news about an early set of exams.

Pupils who sat their maths-numeracy GCSE in November 2021 have finally received the results of their early examination.

The results were described as “outstanding”, with nearly all students achieving their target grades.

32.4% of the students who sat the early exam achieved an A*-A grade, with 81.7% attaining a A*-C grade.

While the majority of exams will be held in the summer months, students were given the opportunity to sit their maths-numeracy exam early as a way to alleviate pressure on their studies, with re-sits being available later in the year.

The GCSE process has been particularly complicated over the past few years for a number of reasons, most notably the Covid-19 pandemic creating a much less regular schooling environment.

Headteacher, Dewi Owen, said: “I am overjoyed for the students, they have shown a huge amount of resilience and grit in working for and attaining these wonderful grades, I would like to congratulate them all on their amazing success.

“The resilience, determination and hard work shown by the pupils, in what has been a disrupted two years, has been remarkable.

“The early results will be a huge boost for the pupils who are very busy preparing for their summer exams, many of whom will be continuing their studies in our 6th form.

“Huge congratulation must go to all the pupils and the maths team for all the hard work that has gone into these results.”

Addressing the students, he added: “We wish you all the very best in your exams this summer.”
