POLICE stopped a vehicle carrying scrap material in Powys on Friday that was overweight – by three quarters of a ton.

The vehicle was stopped on the A470 in south Powys on January 21, with police escorting the driver to a weigh bridge, where it was found to be 740kg – or 116 stone – over its gross maximum.

Dyfed Powys Police’s Roads Policing Unit tweeted: “Vehicle stopped on A470 at Libanus.

“Discussion had regards load security. Taken to weighbridge and found to be 740kgs over its gross maximum. Excess weight removed to continue journey and driver reported.”
