A Newtown teenager is hoping to be crowned Miss Teen Great Britain after winning a place in the finals.

Scarlett Davies, who is the current Miss Junior Teen Powys 2022, was selected from thousands of teenagers from across the country.

Former winners include Love Island and social media star Molly-Mae Hague who said competing was "without a doubt, one of (if not, the) best thing I have ever done".

Teenagers from across Great Britain will compete for the crown and a cash prize at a glittering grand final in October.

Scarlett said: "I'm so lucky to have been given a place, I feel very privileged to represent Powys in the final, an area I feel proud to live in."

She is currently raising money for a charity that supports seriously ill children and hopes to hold fundraising events over the next few months. More than £600 has so far been raised for the Together for Short Lives, from selling toys to holding Christmas and craft stalls.
