A Llanidloes woman who has dedicated more than 40 years to raising money for the Armed Forces community has been presented with a prestigious award.

Trudy Davies said she was “proud” to receive a long service medal from the Royal British Legion for her decades of commitment to the charity which celebrated its 100th anniversary last year.

“Thank you goes to everyone over the years who has helped me in any way to collect for this worthwhile cause, the people of Llanidloes especially for always giving generously when I’m collecting or when running raffles for fundraising and my family for supporting me whilst I have been collecting over 40 years”.

Since the Royal British Legion was founded in 1921, members, staff, volunteers and partners, like Trudy, have dedicated their time and effort to supporting the Armed Forces community and remembering their sacrifice.

To mark the Royal British Legion's centenary, the Reward and Recognition scheme was launched where everyone involved with the Legion were invited to nominate people who deserved to be recognised for their significant contributions to our work.

The medal was presented by the Llanidloes Royal British Legion’s Women’s Section President Pat Thomas.

Trudy also received a letter along with the medal from Una Cleminson National Chairman for Royal British Legion thanking her for the decades of dedication.
