BERRIEW Football Club have bolstered with two new signings ahead of the weekend.

The Rhiewsiders have welcomed the arrival of 17 year old forward Norton Collins who joins from Ardal North East League rivals Welshpool Town.

Collins impressed on his first appearance for the club during Saturday’s friendly defeat to Llanidloes Town.

Meanwhile the villagers have also completed the signing of defender Jack Jones.

The 18 year old makes the step up from MMP-NL Mid Wales League West club Dyffryn Banw.

A club spokesman welcomed the pair to the club, saying: “The club is delighted to welcome both players to the club.”

However versatile midfielder Sam Bowers has departed Talbot Field and returned to Ardal North East League rivals Welshpool Town.

Bowers joined the club during the summer and made 16 appearances for the Rhiewsiders before opting to return to his former club to boost their league ambitions.

Meanwhile the club is also celebrating after manager David Jones was recognised with the monthly Ardal North East League manager of the month award.

The Rhiewsiders picked up two wins during December - a 4-2 win over Four Crosses and 5-1 win at Welshpool Town to ensure Jones claimed the award.

It has been a busy few weeks for the Talbot Field club who have signalled their ambitions by applying for promotion to the JD Cymru North.

Meanwhile off the pitch the club has launched a supporters group on Facebook for their fans to share their love of the Rhiewsiders.
