LLANIDLOES Town and Berriew geared up for a return to league action with a friendly at Victoria Avenue.

Goals from Dafydd Carruthers and Rhys Evans ensured the home side a 2-0 win with both sides using the game to attain match fitness ahead of the resumption of their respective league campaigns.

Guilsfield were also in friendly action with Adam Jenkins netting his side's consolation in a 3-1 defeat at JD Cymru Premier basement side Cefn Druids.

Meanwhile Llandrindod Wells endured a day to forget with a resounding 8-0 defeat at Goytre in the Ardal South East League.

The Gwent hosts never looked back after Isaac Wigley's seventh minute opener with further goals from Chris Ham, Owen Bancroft and a Huey Lewis own goal ensuring the spoils by the break.

The home side sealed victory with Ham starring with a second-half hat-trick to complete his four goal haul with Lamin Conteh's strike ensuring a miserable trip home for the Spamen.

Meanwhile Rhayader Town also tasted a 2-0 defeat at Panteg with goals from Brett Taylor and Ashley Jayne ensuring the Red Kites made the trip home empty handed.

Elsewhere only one match was played in the Ardal North East League as Chirk AAA eased to a 6-1 win at home to bottom of the table Four Crosses.

Crosses forged a second minute lead through Will Howard but the Colliers rallied with replies from Liam Sklenar, Lewis Clamp and Jack Edwards before the break.

Chirk settled the outcome with three late goals with Jake Jones netting either side of Jake Ellison's strike to ensure the home side returned to the top of the table.
