A FUNDRAISING icon has started her new role with a Powys cancer charity.

Jayne Griffiths took up a new role with the Llandrindod Wells-based Bracken Trust earlier this month after more than a decade working at the town’s Tesco store – where she had worked tirelessly as a community champion for Powys for the last five years.

“I'm Jayne Griffiths and I am excited to be the new fundraiser for the Bracken Trust,” Jayne had posted on the trust’s Facebook group last weekend.

“I was previously the community champion in Tesco, Llandrindod Wells. I hope to bring my experience to the trust.

“I pride myself on being hard working and a people person. I look forward to learning more skills and meeting new people.”

Jayne had raised over £100,000 for groups and organisations in Radnorshire as part of her role as the supermarket chain’s community champion.

Jayne was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours last year for her role as a tireless fundraiser. She had been Tesco’s community champion since 2016 but announced at the end of last year she was leaving her role on Christmas Eve.
