A WELSHPOOL pub is set to reopen later in January as construction to renovate it continues.

The Wellington is currently undergoing a renovation with the goal of reopening the pub later in January, having been closed throughout the pandemic.

The business is now under the management of Jess Regan, landlady of The Oak in Guilsfield.

The Wellington will join other Welshpool pubs that have reopened since the beginning of the pandemic such as The Green Dragon and The Talbot.

Andy Wilkinson, Operations Manager at Punch Taverns, said: “The Wellington, or The Welly as it is lovingly known within the Welshpool community, is currently undergoing investment that will breath new life into this fantastic pub, creating a traditional and contemporary feel.

“The pub will be reopening at the end of January with the new publican, Jess Regan, taking the helm. Jess brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will ensure The Welly continues to operate at the heart of the community for many years to come.”
