A MUCH-LOVED show will go ahead after coronavirus forced its cancellation in 2020 and 2021.

The annual Kington Vintage Show has been a high point on the calendar for locals for nearly 30 years, attracting a range of vintage vehicles and more.

Previous shows have included everything from a Spitfire fly-past to pig racing alongside classic cars, vintage tractors, stationary engines, and static displays.

Thousands of visitors turn up every year for the show, which promises an abundance of nostalgia, at the town's Recreation Ground.

And now organisers have confirmed that plans are going ahead for this year's show, which is set to take place on August 20 and 21.

In a statement made yesterday (January 10), organisers Kington Vintage Club said they were pleased to announce that the show will be going ahead this year.

"Further details will be announced near the time but after a tough couple of years we are looking forward to seeing everybody and making a weekend of it," organisers said.

"The show would not go ahead if it wasn’t for the hard work and dedication of our members and volunteers and as the old saying goes - many hands make light work. We are very keen to welcome new people, whether that is to be part of the committee or to lend a helping hand on the weekend.

"The next meeting will take place on February 14 at 6.30pm at The Burton Hotel, Kington. A warm invitation goes out to anyone who would be interested!

"A huge thank you to everyone for your continued support"
