A village shop will be closed until next week "due to Covid restrictions adherence".

Llangurig Post Office Stores announced on Wednesday (January 5) that is to close for one week.

Colin and Mary Davies, who run the popular store, said: "Your daily newspapers will still be available from the porch and if you need any other groceries just contact us in the usual ways."

They added that card payments can be made over the phone.

Latest data from Public Health Wales shows that there were 93 positive cases for coronavirus in the Llanidloes, Blaen Hafren and Llandinam area between Christmas Day (Saturday, December 25) and New Year's Eve (Friday, December 31) - one of the lowest in Wales.

Powys Teaching Health Board says more than 87,000 booster doses and third primary doses have been given so far.

"Well over a quarter million (290,000) vaccine doses have been administered by the Powys Covid-19 vaccination programme," it said.

"Thank you to everyone who continues to participate in our vaccination programme."
