NEWTOWN Football Club chairman Howard Ellis hopes the JD Cymru Premier will resume as soon as possible.
Today league chiefs will meet club officials to plot a way through the latest raft of Welsh Government restrictions on sport.
Ellis backed the Football Association of Wales (FAW) decision to permit te return of third tier and below league fixtures from this weekend - albeit with 50 fan limits imposed by the Welsh Government.
Ellis said: “It is a positive move from the FAW. It gives these clubs a chance to fulfil their fixtures moving forward.
“As for the JD Cymru clubs there is a meeting to be held this Thursday with all member clubs discussing a way forward for elite clubs to return to play whether that be behind closed doors or with a reduced numbers of supporters.
“My view is that whatever option is decided we really need to get back to playing.”
