School children have raised hundreds of pounds by singing Christmas carols across Welshpool for charity.

Welshpool Church in Wales Primary School braved the winter weather to go out singing at the town centre, local hospital, care homes and supermarkets.

Each class performed in different locations around Welshpool to raise money for the school's chosen charity, Save the Children.

Justine Baldwin, headteacher, said: "We are particularly proud of our pupils, who through doing this, who have shown how much they care for our local community, as well as the planet.

"They are certainly leading the way in becoming ethically informed future citizens of Wales and the world!"
