A Newtown charity shop has won this year’s Christmas window competition.
The British Red Cross shop in Shortbridge Street was crowned for having the best festive display in town by Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council.
The town centre has been brightened up with the vast amount of shops taking part in the competition to encourage local shopping and supporting local businesses.
This year’s theme was Christmas Celebrations – an opportunity to showcase locally produced and available goods in a Christmas setting.
Newtown Mayor Councillor Richard Williams thanked all the businesses for taking part in this year's competition.
"I was pleased to see all the festive window displays throughout town. Businesses had gone to great efforts to participate in this year’s Christmas Window Competition. Congratulations to British Red Cross on having this year’s winning display”
Bloomers Florist in Broad Street won second prize with Market Street-based KCA Kitchens scooping third place.
Certificates were presented to the prizewinning businesses in early December following the judging on November 27.
