PLANS are being tuned up to try and get Crossgates residents singing from the same hymn sheet, with hopes of forming a rock choir.

Rock Choir is described as the UK’s original, award-winning, local, contemporary choir, for people who love to sing. There are no auditions and no musical knowledge needed.

It’s all about singing, fun, community, friendship and life-changing experiences, with groups rehearsing in over 250 towns across the UK.

And new Powys resident Sharon Hogben is hoping to get a choir rocking in Crossgates, near Llandrindod Wells.

“We’ve had a fantastic response to a possible choir being set up at Crossgates Community Centre,” she posted in the Llandrindod Solutions Facebook group.

“In order to make this work, the Rock Choir team are looking for a talented musician who would be able to lead our groups. They currently have adverts for this and other jobs on their website.

“Should you know any talented musicians, please point them to the Rock Choir office in Farnham or get them to apply through Rock Choir jobs.

“I would dearly like to see a choir set up in the New Year and for everyone to enjoy the Rock Choir experiences as I have for the past eight years.

“I shall keep working behind the scenes to get this up and running. I won’t be getting any commissions or freebies for setting this choir up, just the knowledge of being able to share my experiences with everyone that will join in the future. Please share this post with your talented musicians.”
