THE Hafren Theatre in Newtown has paid tribute to the comedian Jethro following his death this week.
The Cornish stand-up comedian and singer died on December 14 at the age of 73
An official notice said that he had contracted COVID-19.
Born Geoffrey Rowe on March 8 1948, he became known by his stage name Jethro.
He made his first national television performance in 1990 on the Des O'Connor Show, making several subsequent appearances.
He also appeared on Jim Davidson's programmes, and on regional television, though much of his material was considered unsuitable for a television audience.
In February 2020, he announced that he was retiring from public performances at the end of the year with his final shows later postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A Hafren Theatre spokesman said: "We would like to express our condolences to the family and friends of the legend that was comedian Jethro. He appeared here several times in recent years and we remember his visits very fondly. RIP."
