Barry Town Utd 1 TNS 2

The New Saints recorded their third consecutive JD Cymru Premier win after defeating Barry Town United 2-1 at Jenner Park.

TNS led inside the opening five minutes with Danny Redmond lashing into the top corner from 20 yards.

Barry lost goalkeeper Mike Lewis to injury early on and his replacement Kelland Absalom was called upon on 12 minutes to deny Danny Davies from distance.

Seven minutes later Danny Davies almost scored an equally good goal, but made a superb save to deny the TNS full-back.

Both sides had moments late in the first-half with Kayne McLaggon cautioned for diving in the area by referee Tom Owen after the Barry forward went down under pressure from Ryan Astles.

Just a minute later Ryan Brobbel had a golden chance to add a second but fired over from six yards.

The Saints upped the ante after the break with Jordan Williams denied by Absalom before Brobbel fired wide from distance.

The pressure finally told with 63 minutes gone when Williams doubled his side’s lead with a well-taken finish after being picked out by Chris Marriott.

However seven minutes later the home side were back in the game as Theo Wharton reduced the arrears with Barry enjoying their spell of the game.

The Saints regained their composure and had chances to restore their two goal cushion in the final 15 minutes only for Brobbel, Davies and Declan McManus to fail to convert.
