A LLANIDLOES resident will be sharing her tips for Christmas crafts with a nation audience when she appears on a hit Channel 4 programme next week.

Former automotive clay modeller Alison Kenlock will be competing as a contestant on the festive-themed craft show hosted by Kirstie Allsopp, with the episode airing on Monday December 13.

Now in its ninth series, the Kirstie's Handmade Christmas presents a variety of classic and contemporary Christmas crafts, with each new episode seeing four contestants competing in a series of challenges.

For an upcoming episode features a cake decorating competition, with four top decorators working against the clock to impress the show’s judges – and Llanidloes’s own Alison Kenlock will be among the competitors.

“It’s pretty crazy thinking that I’m here,” she says in the episode.

While introducing her, the show describes Alison as “hailing from the Welsh countryside. She lives with her husband Craig, their four cats and Belle, the pony”/

Having worked for years as an automotive clay modeller, Alison recently switched trades from modelling cars to modelling cakes. She has created elaborate cakes in the shape of a T-Rex and a Radio DJ turntable.

Undoubtedly it was these complex bakes that earned her a spot on Handmade Christmas, competing alongside a selection of other highly accomplished decorators.

Whether or not Alison’s own showstopper will be enough to win over the judges is something viewers will have to wait until December 13 to see.
