A woman who was left scared for her children changed her daily routine after her ex-husband sent social media messages while drunk, a court heard.

Piotr Pazdzior rang her and sent four messages on Facebook Messenger during the early hours of May 18 after hearing rumours that she was in a new relationship, he told police.

The 43-year-old admitted breaching a non-molestation order to protect his former partner at an earlier hearing, and on November 23 was fined and ordered to complete a 12-month community order.

Helen Tench, prosecuting, said she had noticed the messages at around 6am. Ms Tench said the victim believed the messages were sent when a platonic friend was staying with her at the house to help move things. She added: “The defendant believed they had been having an affair.”

After she rang the police about the non-molestation order breach, an officer visited Pazdzior, who claimed he did not understand the order. He later attended Newtown Police Station and was arrested for the breach.

Robert Hanratty, defending, said: “I don’t think Piotr Pazdzior realised how serious the breach was

“He certainly hoped that they might reconcile. He sincerely at the time thought those feelings were reciprocated. He now accepts that the relationship is over. He regrets messaging her. He is in full-time employment.”

Magistrates ordered Pazdzior to complete a 12-month community order including 10 rehabilitation days about respectful relationships “so that you can improve your understanding for any future problems,” chair Judith Baker said.

“It would also give you support with your use of alcohol.”

Pazdzior, of Falcon Court, Newtown, was ordered to pay a £50 fine, £95 surcharge and £85 costs.
