Newtown 0 Haverfordwest County 1
NEWTOWN were made to pay for missed chances in a disappointing defeat at Haverfordwest County.
The Robins made the long trip to Pembrokeshire determined to bounce back from their midweek Nathaniel MG Cup defeat at Bala Town.
Dylan Rees forced goalkeeper Dave Jones into action before James Davies fired wide in Newtown's first opening.
However the visitors found themselves behind at New Bridge Meadow when Touray Sissay raced onto a long ball from Alaric Jones to slot past an advancing Dave Jones after 26 minutes.
Newtown came close to levelling when Callum Roberts swung over a deep cross from the left which Jordan Evans fired into a packed goalmouth and steered onto the post by James Davies.

County also threatened with Sissay drilling a low left wing cross behind the Town defence only for an unmarked Elliott Scotcher to blaze over the bar on the far post.
Newtown ended the half on top and were unlucky not to draw level with Kieran Mills-Evans heading over following a corner and Evans rattling the bar.
It was a similar start to the second-half with Davies testing Wojciech Gajda before Shane Sutton headed over from Craig Williams' free-kick and the home goalkeeper was tested by Aaron Williams' free-kick.
However County could have put the points to bed with 15 minutes remaining only for Jones to deny Jack Wilson.
Newtown's toil failed to yield any second-half rewards despite the introduction of star man Lufumpa Mwandwe and the Robins could have further trailed at the death only for Jones to frustrate Kieran Lewis.
