Flint Town Utd 1 TNS 1

KAI Edwards returned to haunt TNS with an injury time equaliser as Flint Town United hit back for a point in the JD Cymru top of the table clash tonight.

TNS looked set to extend their lead at the top through Ryan Astles' close range strike at the end of the first-half only for ex-TNS defender Edwards to salvage Flint a late point.

The Oswestry side were hampered after being reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Leo Smith on the hour and the Deesiders late pressure yielded its rewards.

Danny Davies curled wide as the Saints looked to make their mark early at Cae-y-Castell before Ryan Brobbel waltzed into the area only to be denied by goalkeeper Jon Rushton.

The home stopper produced the save of the half on 25 minutes with an outstanding one handed save to tip an effort from Jon Routledge over the bar.

The home goal continued to lead a charmed life with a frantic goalmouth scramble failing to yield a reward before Danny Davies rattled the woodwork.

The pressure finally told just two minutes before the break with Brobbel cutting a low cross from the left for Astles to pounce.

TNS could have doubled their lead shortly before the hour only for Declan McManus to rock the woodwork.

Five minutes later the Saints were reduced to 10 men when Leo Smith earned his marching orders for two quickfire cautions.

The dismissal proved to galvanise the hosts who enjoyed their best spell of the game with Mike Wilde heading onto the post before goalkeeper Paul Harrison was called upon to deny Alex Jones.

Harrison was once again called upon with 12 minutes remaining to claw away a headed effort from Ben Nash as the Saints goal continued to be laid siege.

Jones squared for Wilde to balloon over the bar with eight minutes left on the clock as the Deesiders continued to exploit their numerical advantage.

TNS introduced Jordan Williams late on and the ex-Stockport forward almost made an immediate impact after outpacing Kai Edwards only to be denied by Rushton.

Edwards was the hero at the other end late into injury time, firing home from close range as the Silkmen snatched a deserved point.
