A WEATHER warning for thunderstorms has been issued by the Met Office.

The "brief period" will include thunderstorms, heavy rain and gusty winds which is predicted to hit The Midlands, Wales and the South West on Wednesday, October 20, morning between 4am and midday.

Currently heavy rain is predicted to hit Newtown and Builth Wells around 8am.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "A brief period of heavy rain, thunderstorms and very gusty winds may cause some disruption on Wednesday morning."

They added there is a chance of some floodwater, lightning strikes, hail and strong winds, plus some spray and sudden flooding which could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, and delays and some cancellations to train and bus services."
