A man accused of stealing nearly £50,000 worth of farm equipment and vehicles in south Powys is set to appear in court.

Michael Kenneth Evans, of Gurnos Road, Merthyr Tydfil, appeared at Newport Magistrates Court for an initial hearing on Wednesday, October 6 charged with 5 counts of theft in South Powys.

It is alleged that during a three month spell in late 2019, 34-year-old Evans stole a campervan to the value of £32,000 and a Land Rover Defender to the value of £5,000, along with various other items of farm machinery such as quad bikes and power tools.

The offices were said to have taken place at addresses in south Powys between September 16, 2019 and November 14, 2019.

  • Between 16/09/2019 and 19/09/2019 at Llangorse, Brecon entered as a trespasser a building, namely a shed at Gilfach Rope and Riding Centre, with intent to steal
  • Between 18/10/2019 and 21/10/2019 at Llangorse, Brecon having entered as a trespasser a building, stole a Land Rover Defender, socket set, chainsaw and battery charger to the value of 5000.00
  • Between 18/10/2019 and 21/10/2019 at Llangorse, Brecon, stole a motor vehicle, namely a Mitsubishi L200, to the value of 5000.00
  • Between 11/11/2019 and 14/11/2019 at Bryngwyn, Powys having entered as a trespasser a building, stole a campervan, a quad bike and power tools jointly with another to the value of 32,000.00
  • Between 11/11/2019 and 14/11/2019 at Ty Mawr, Powys, stole a motor vehicle, namely a Honda Quad Bike, to the value of 2300.00

Evans will appear at Newport Crown Court for a further hearing on October 20.
