It's full steam ahead for a Welshpool attraction as they launch their Christmas special offer.

Staff at the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway say visitors are set to see in the festive season in magical fashion with their "Santa Special" steam trains, with tickets going on sale this week.

Lucky visitors will be transported through the famous mid Wales scenery - before bagging a present and a word in Santa's ear.

"Celebrate the festive season with a magical journey through beautiful Mid Wales to meet the family's favourite Christmas cheer-bringer, Santa Claus, in 2021," said a spokesperson.

"Arrive at our vintage station, board our heated carriages hauled by an amazing steam locomotive to be transported through winter scenery.

"At the half-way point in your journey, meet Santa on the balcony of your carriage and receive a quality present for each child."
