Barry Town United 0 Newtown 3

AN Aaron Williams hat-trick ensured Newtown a memorable victory at Barry Town United as the Robins stormed back to form following their Welsh Cup exit.

The ex-Telford forward headed wide inside the opening 10 minutes as the Robins made a bright start at Jenner Park.

However Barry had the first real chance of the game when a long ball from goalkeeper Mike Lewis was bundled forward by Kayne McLaggon and Nat Jarvis before Rhys Kavanagh's low drive was parried away by goalkeeper Dave Jones.

Newtown survived the scare and made the most of the reprieve on 33 minutes when an incisive throughball from Lifumpa Mwandwe released Callum Roberts who was tripped on the edge of the area by Kevin Day.

Williams stepped up to convert the resulting penalty and open his account for the afternoon.

Barry could not cope with the skill and pace of Mwandwe who tormented their defence throughout the afternoon with a surging run down the left resulting in a cross for Williams to slot home at the second attempt shortly after the break.

It was all over on 66 minutes when Barry lost possession cheaply in midfield for former Barry Town player David Cotterill to deliver a wonderful cross field ball to Mwandwe who once again burst through to cross for Williams to stab home his hat-trick.
