A little slice of Hollywood arrived in a mid Wales tourist hotspot last week - as filming got underway for a new movie.

Hollywood stars Andie MacDowell and Myriam Margolyes were among the famous names shooting on Ynyslas Beach in North Ceredigion, as well as Eastenders and Dr Who star Rakhee Thakrar, Bridget Jones star Sally Phillips and Aberystwyth's own Downton Abbey actor Tom Cullen.

And during the day, cast and crew dropped in on a slightly starstruck Cambrian Coast Bar and Grill for some much needed refreshment, to the delight of staff at the venue.

"It was a pleasure to welcome the cast, crew and supporting artists to Cambrian Coast Bar & Grill," said a spokesperson for the venue.

"The cast were all lovely and left many of our team members star struck - Watching them being transformed by the make up and costume department in our function room was an experience we won’t forget."

Former model Andie MacDowell is best known for her roles in Groundhog Day and Four Weddings and a Funeral, while Myriam Margolyes film career stretches back to 1969, although younger movie buffs will certainly know her best for her role as Professor Pomona Sprout in the Harry Potter films.

The cast happily posed for pictures with staff and guests in between takes - and it was an experience they were unlikely to forget.

"The highlight of the day was receiving lovely compliments from the stars themselves, about both our food and hospitality was, and something we will all talk about for a long time to come," they added.

"We can’t wait to be able to see the movie on the big screen next year!"
