A rugby star has shown his support for a new CCTV business that has been launched by a Powys farmer's son to help tackle rural crime.

British and Irish Lions and Wales Wales prop Wyn Jones is Dyfed CCTV's latest customer and he's delighted with what they offer to the farming community.

Wyn, who lives on the family farm outside Llandovery, said: “I’m very happy to be a customer with Dyfed. Their agricultural background means we get to deal with like-minded people that offer a great service!”

Dyfed CCTV was launched by two farmers’ sons to help farmers tackle the surge in rural crime.

Joe Yeomans, from Adfa near Newtown and Meirion Davies, from Carmarthen, joined forces with Alistair Cox, owner of Dyfed Telecom, to meet the increasing demand for CCTV from their existing farming clients caused by a growing number of farm thefts.

The two companies are the first of their kind to offer farmers a one-stop shop for a whole suite of communications including mobile phones, broadband, land line/VoiP and CCTV.

Agriculture vehicle theft cost £9.1m and quad bike theft cost £2.5m in 2020, according to the latest NFU Rural Crime survey.

Joe said:“The beauty of using Dyfed CCTV is you have the same company able to deal with everything and, because we already cover the whole of Wales, we have engineers able to come out immediately to deal with any issues."

Dyfed CCTV will be supplying its own range of HD and 4K equipment including thermal, 360 moving, night vision cameras - ideal for calving sheds to help detect the onset of calving, as well as improving security and detection inside and outside residential, commercial, and agricultural properties.

A spokesperson for Dyfed CCTV said: "One of the unique services for Dyfed CCTV is a monthly mobile phone style payment plan for the cameras, allowing cost effective security systems to be installed very quickly without a large outlay. The plan includes services and can included extended warranty."

The service will be available to farms in Wales and the borders initially, and the aim is to expand UK-wide.

New agricultural CCTV grants are available using Dyfed Telecoms experience in grant processes.
