A house was threatened by a "significant" shed fire involving fuel tanks.

Fire crews from across north and mid Powys were sent to the Cefn Coch area between Carno and Llanfair Caereinion on Monday evening (September 27).

Firefighters were able to prevent the "very fierce" fire from spreading to a remote off-grid house.

The shed contained an electric generator and its fuel tanks had ruptured creating a fire near to the property.

Nobody was hurt and no animals were involved. Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire was accidental.

Fire crews from Llanfair Caereinion, Newtown, Llandrindod Wells and Llanidloes left the scene by 1am on Tuesday, September 28.

A Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "On Monday, September 27, at 07:28pm, crews from Llanfair Caereinion, Newtown, Llanidloes and Llandrindod Wells attended a barn fire near Cefn Coch, Llanfair Caereinion.

"The barn measured approximately six meters by 10 meters and was well alight.

"Firefighters were involved in defending adjacent properties from the fire using two hose reel jets and two jets.

"An environmental pack was also used to stop a flow of diesel that was coming from the barn.

"Crews continued to dampen down the barn before leaving the incident at 12:29am."
