A plan to build four new semi-detached houses in Llanidloes has been registered with Powys County Council.

The scheme would see two pairs of 4-bedroomed semi-detached dwellings, with accommodation arranged over 3 floors, built on former railway sidings in Hafren Terrace.

If approved, when built the properties are set to go on the open market, and agents Alan Southerby Planning say the scheme in both numerical and site size terms is below the thresholds that would otherwise trigger a requirement for affordable housing.

Llanidloes Town Council registered no objection at their July meeting, however a preliminary report from Powys County Council stated the subject site is identified as being on former railways which is potential contaminated land, and recommended that preliminary investigation work be carried out.

"No development shall commence until a preliminary investigation and assessment of the nature and extent of contamination affecting the application site area has been submitted to and approved in writing by the local planning authority," it said.

The application is under consideration and will be decided at a later date.
