Coronavirus has continued to spiral in Powys in recent weeks, with all but three parts of the county experiencing rising case rates.

Latest analysis of the county's figures by the County Times shows that in Montgomeryshire, Llanidloes and Newtown North are the two areas with the highest case rates, with the former the second worst-hit area of the county with more than 800 cases per 100,000 people.

Sennybridge in the south of the county is the current worst-hit area, with a case ate of 961.4.

Ystradgynlais remains the area with the most cases overall throughout the pandemic, having now seen more 1,100 people test positive for Covid-19 spring last year.

The figures are obtained from the Public Health Wales data dashboard, which has also revealed soaring case numbers in Powys in recent weeks.

In Powys today, 86 more people have had cases confirmed, meaning 8,523 positive Covid tests have now been recorded in the county overall.

The analysis by location breaks down the county into "middle layer super output areas", or MSOA, as reflected in the table above.

The area around Builth Wells and Hay appears to have seen a softening in case numbers, as has the rural area encompassing Montgomery, Berriew and Trewern.

All other parts of the county have seen case rates increase.
