A 20-year-old man has accepted that his behaviour was "unacceptable" after punching a person at an unpaid work session.
Luke Jones, from Llandinam, appeared in court on Thursday, September 23, after failing to comply with an unpaid work order.
He attended the session on August 12 as part of his sentence for punching door staff in a brawl outside a Newtown nightclub in November 2019. He was given a six-month sentence in a youth offender institution, suspended for 12 months in February this year.
Mold Crown Court heard that Jones was "under stress" at the time. The court heard that the police were not involved in the incident.
Brian Treadwell, prosecuting, said another person made "unpleasant remarks and was baiting" Jones about his girlfriend. An unpaid work supervisor saw Jones punching the individual at the session.
The court was told that Jones, who was unrepresented at court, wanted to "get on" with his punishment. A report said he had already completed 58 out of his 180 hours of unpaid work, and his performance was "satisfactory".
Judge Rhys Rowlands told Jones: "It was a blip. It was a one-off incident. You're doing well. Carry on and hopefully you can get back to work."
Jones was ordered to complete an extra 20 hours of unpaid work. He was also told to pay probation costs of £125.
"If anybody says anything to you, keep your head down and ignore it," Judge Rowlands added.
