Calls have been made for new volunteers to help with the Covid booster vaccine effort at mass vaccination centres across Powys.

As restrictions have eased the number of volunteers has reduced over the past few months and PAVO is continuing to recruit Wayfinder Volunteers to assist with the booster roll out in Newtown, Builth Wells or Bronllys.

Volunteering involves giving up to two hours of time, whether that's during the day, in the evenings or on weekends.

Adrian Osborne, programme director for Covid vaccination for Powys Teaching Health Board, said: "The vaccination programme in Powys has been one of the most successful in the UK. Already over 90 per cent of adults have taken up the offer of their first dose.

"This has only been possible because of the tremendous support from our volunteers. Their friendliness and support has provided a warm welcome to thousands of people attending for vaccination in the county. Our sincere thanks go to all the Powys Mass Vaccination Volunteers ”

Since December last year more than 22,824 hours of volunteering have been given by more than 400 volunteers. That is the equivalent of 3,261 days and constitutes a huge achievement by all wayfinder marshall volunteers across the county.
