NFU Cymru members in Montgomeryshire are being invited to the first in-person county meeting since the beginning of the pandemic.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 29, at 7.30pm, and will be held at the Elephant and Castle in Newtown. The guest speaker will be Elizabeth Swancott, Hybu Cig Cymru’s red meat development officer for the Welsh lamb meat quality project.

The project is looking to develop a blueprint for the whole supply chain to ensure delivery of top taste consistency to consumers of PGI Welsh lamb. Elizabeth will inform members of the results collected so far and what their upcoming plans are for the next year. The meeting will also be an opportunity to host the county’s AGM and elect county officeholders and delegates for the coming term.

NFU Cymru Montgomeryshire county chairman, Hugh Besent, said: “For too long we have waited for the opportunity to meet in person, and I am extremely pleased that for our first face-to-face meeting we will here from Elizabeth about her work with Hybu Cig Cymru.

“We will also have updates from our commodity board representatives. I am looking forward to seeing you all there and catching up on the last 18 months.”

All members wishing to attend the meeting are asked to register with the NFU Cymru office by calling 01982 554200.
